Face-Lift, Mini Face-LiftAging, gravity, sun exposure, and stress create the appearance of loosened or lax facial skin over time. Deep wrinkles and creases begin to develop and deepen in certain places, especially between the nose and mouth. Facelift surgery (rhytidectomy) can refresh your appearance in all of these areas by reducing sagging and laxity in the face and neck area. When Is It Appropriate To Consider A Face-Lift?The best facelift candidates are generally people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, when the skin appears to be lax or sagging. A strong jaw line or well-defined bone structure may also help improve the results of a face-lift. Younger patients may want to consider less-invasive skin lifts or mini face-lifts. Face-Lift Surgery At The Olive Institute, NelsonOur goal is always a natural refreshed appearance. With a traditional face-lift, an incision is made in front of the ear extending up into the hairline. The incision is hidden within the natural creases and curves around the ear and then behind it, usually ending in the hairline on the back of the neck. This allows access to the deeper layers which have sagged. At this point, the deeper tissues can be tightened with sutures, with or without removing some of the excess deeper tissues. The skin is then redraped and the excess skin is carefully removed. The skin incisions are then closed without tension. The "Lift" is created in the deeper layers avoiding the "pulled" skin look. Mini Face-Lifts ~ An Option For Younger PatientsGood candidates for mini face-lifts are generally people in their 30's or early 40's, who, as a result of their genetic make-up, lifestyle, or environment, show signs of premature aging. Patients benefit from smaller incisions and the less dissection, which leads to faster recovery and less down time. The treatment regime for a mini-facelift patient often includes non-surgical treatments, such as BOTOX or Restylane to soften frown lines, add volume to hollowed facial areas or fill in deep wrinkles. Alternatively, a consultation may reveal that non-surgical treatments are sufficient on their own to achieve the desired results. Thread-Lifts, Suture-LiftsMany of these techniques are new and long-term results have not been proven. In the interests of our clients we have elected not to offer these procedures until more consistent results can be demonstrated.
