Facial cosmetic surgery ~ Nelson, New Zealand

Brow Lift Surgery ~ At The Olive Institute, Nelson, New Zealand

The effects of aging are inevitable, and often the telltale signs of age are more evident in the brow and forehead areas. A brow lift or foreheadplasty makes it possible to correct facial flaws and signs of premature aging that are most pronounced in the brow region. By changing how you look, cosmetic surgery can help change how you feel about yourself.

How will a Brow Lift or Forehead Lift Enhance My Appearance?

A Brow lift (forehead lift) is a plastic surgery procedure that will raise your eyebrows to a higher and more aesthetic position. It also has the significant benefit of rejuvenating the upper eyelids. To a large extent, the excess or saggy skin on the upper eyelid is due to the brow dropping down as we age. Cosmetic surgery performed on your forehead will also soften your horizontal forehead wrinkles and the vertical frown lines between your eyebrows.

It's important to note that a brow lift will NOT improve baggy lower eyelids, puffy eyes, or crow's feet.

The browlift can also done for functional reasons in cases where there has been permanent injury to the facial nerve from trauma, surgery or tumour.

Forehead Lift ~ The Consultation Process

Whether you are having surgery for functional or cosmetic reasons, our surgical team in Nelson will advise you about the pros and cons of brow lift surgery. In your consultation, our specialist surgeon will examine your facial structure, the condition of your skin, and your hairline in order to decide where incisions should be made.

Brow Lift Surgery

No cosmetic surgery is minor, however, a browlift is a straightforward procedure. It can be can performed as a day surgical procedure under sedation or general anaesthetic. There are a variety ways the surgery can be perfromed, the exact approach will be decided in consultation with your surgeon. A novel endoscopic method involves the use of telescopes to allow better access, small hidden keyhole incisions and faster recovery. Please ask to see if this may be suitable for you.

What To Expect After The Surgery

A head-dressing is applied for support and this is replaced the next day with a close-fitting garment. There will be a small amount of puffiness around the eyes. Although the risk of bruising is low, there is a small risk. Pain is usually mild and easily controlled. Sutures are removed at 7 days and return to work can potentially occur soon after.
